I will meet my parents at Sao Paulo airport on Friday 21 August in the morning and then take the bus at 9:15am to Ubatuba. Bus takes around 4:30 hours and costs R100 (https://www.passaromarron.com.br/portal-de-passagens/).
On Thursday 27 August, we will take the bus back to Sao Paulo and from there to Sao Carlos.
If we are a bigger group, we could also book a private bus. Please let me know if you would like to join.
Ubatuba is absolutely stunning!!!
We decided to have a home base in Ubatuba and do day trips up the coast from here. Visitng Paraty is definitely on the bucket list. If you wanted to, you could also stay shorter in Ubatuba and travel up the coast.
Pantanal Eco Tour – Right after the wedding
For those wishing to extend their time in Brazil, we may organise an optional experience to the Pantanal, one of the world's largest tropical wetlands and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its incredible biodiversity and spectacular landscapes, the Pantanal offers some of the best wildlife-viewing opportunities in South America.
Our journey would typically begin in Cuiabá before travelling into the heart of the Pantanal, where we would stay in a comfortable lodge surrounded by nature. Throughout the experience, we could enjoy a variety of activities such as guided nature walks, wildlife safaris, river excursions, birdwatching, and opportunities to learn about the local culture and environment.
A highlight of the trip may include exploring the waterways around Porto Jofre, a region famous for jaguar sightings. While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, we may have the opportunity to see jaguars, giant otters, capybaras, caimans, tapirs, monkeys, hyacinth macaws, toucans, and many other fascinating species in their natural habitat.
We may also venture out at sunrise to experience the wetlands at their most active, as well as enjoy evening wildlife-spotting excursions to discover the Pantanal's nocturnal creatures. Between activities, there is usually time to relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and take in the beauty of this unique ecosystem.
The experience is generally suitable for most travellers, with a low to moderate activity level and no special physical preparation required. Vegetarian and vegan meal options are typically available, depending on the accommodation provider.
